Henry Ngan

 

Henry Ngan is an associate in the Litigation Group of Osler Hoskins & Harcourt LLP, where he maintains a general civil and commercial litigation practice. Prior to joining Osler, he was Crown Counsel at the Ministry of the Attorney General (Ontario) and had worked on constitutional, regulatory and administrative law matters. Previously, he served as a judicial law clerk at the Federal Court (Canada). While in law school, he competed in the Canadian Corporate/Securities Law Moot and volunteered for the Legal Information Clinic. Henry also worked as a research assistant to several faculty members at McGill University and the University of Hong Kong. 

Alwin Kong

 

Alwin Kong currently practices at Cancer Care Ontario (CCO), an agency of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care that is responsible for managing the cancer system in Ontario.  As Assistant General Counsel, Director, Legal & Privacy, Alwin provides advice on information technology, privacy, public procurement, healthcare management, funding, policy and general commercial matters. Alwin has worked as in-house legal counsel at ING Canada Inc. (now Intact Financial Corporation). Alwin summered and articled at Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP where he was seconded to the Ontario Securities Commission. He has also worked at TD Asset Management and the Ontario Teachers Pension Plan (OTPP). 

André Bacchus

 

André B. Bacchus currently acts as the Assistant Director in the Work Placement Office of the Law Practice Program (LPP) at Ryerson University. Prior to joining the LPP, André Bacchus was the Director of Professional Development at Heenan Blaikie LLP where he was responsible for all aspects of the Toronto office's associate and student programs, as well as managing the office's orientation, continuing legal education, mentoring and review programs. Following his legal studies at Osgoode Hall Law School, André was admitted to the New York State Bar and worked as an Associate with the New York office of Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP. André has also worked as a Recruitment Manager for Robert Half Legal and also served as the Director of Career Services at Osgoode Hall Law School.

Vince Wong

 

Vince Wong founded VW Law, an immigration and refugee law firm, from the belief that traditional models of delivering legal services were becoming increasingly obsolete and misaligned with actual client needs.  He believes in developing long-term client relationships which truly live up to the namesake of ‘counsel’ – a trusted and competent adviser and friend. Prior to finding VW Law, Vince has worked at the Metro Toronto Chinese and Southeast Asian Legal Clinic, Stellation Asset Management, State Street Bank and Trust, and TD Securities. He was a visiting research fellow at The University of Hong Kong. 

Marie Chen

 

Marie Chen is a staff lawyer at the Income Security Advocacy Centre working in test case and Charter litigation addressing systemic issues relating to income security programs. She has extensive experience in constitutional and human rights law. For almost a decade, Marie worked at the African Canadian Legal Clinic engaged in test case, Charter, equality and human rights litigation addressing systemic racism. She has appeared before various tribunals and levels of Court including the Supreme Court of Canada. She has been involved in anti-racism advocacy and law reform activities at Canadian and international fora. Before joining the ACLC, Marie practiced immigration and refugee law with Jackman and Associates. She has also worked at the Clinic Resource Office, Legal Aid Ontario and at the Toronto Ombudsman where she was involved in several major investigations into City administrative processes. She is on the Board of the Metropolitan Toronto Chinese and Southeast Asian Clinic.
